Born in Yokohama, she discovered tea ceremony in the 4th grade of elementary school. She formally trained in the Omotesenke school, one of the three main schools of Japanese tea ceremony, and has since dedicated herself to the Way of Tea. She has taught Table Tea Ceremony-crossing the boundaries of traditional schools-to over 2,100 students in 16 countries. As a promoter of Japanese culture, she has appeared at seminars and tea gatherings hosted by the Italian Embassy, and has provided private instruction to the wives of ambassadors from Italy, Greece, Iran, and Slovenia.
