Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1976, she graduated from the Department of Literary Arts at Nihon University College of Art. She made her debut as a screenwriter after winning the Grand Prix at the 14th TV Asahi New Screenwriter Award. In 2016, her televised drama Natsume-ke Dorobou Kidan (Tales of the Natsume Family Thieves) earned a nomination for the 5th Shin'ichi Ichikawa Screenplay Award.

Having crafted plotlines for feature films and the hit TV drama series Aibou (Partners), she makes her debut as a novelist with this book.
