Yugo Aosaki was born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1991. A graduate of Meiji University, he was an active member of the university's Mystery Research Club during his student years. His literary career began dramatically in 2012 when he won the prestigious 22nd Ayukawa Tetsuya Award with The Murder in the Gymnasium, launching him into immediate acclaim while still an undergraduate.
Often referred to as "the Ellery Queen of the Heisei era," Aosaki has established himself as a leading figure in the honkaku (orthodox) mystery genre in Japan, known for his ingenious lockedroom mysteries and meticulous logical deductions.
