Yoshie, who loses her husband and spends her days caring for her parents-in-law, finds herself at 68 without a sense of self. Rie, in her 30s and having graduated from graduate school, faces the challenges of finding stable employment during an economic recession. Tamotsu, in his 20s, awkward in living his life, contemplates suicide and sits by the riverside. Each of these four individuals, living with their overwhelming anxieties, finds themselves drawn to visit a room in an old apartment. There, they encounter Yoshino Katagura, a mysterious woman who opens her room and serves meals to those who visit.
