From the author of The Full Moon Coffee Shop, comes a moving story set in Kyoto, where a former star screenwriter and a fledgling actor grow together.
In a quiet residential area of Kyoto’s Higashiyama district stands a refined Western-style mansion known as the Higashiyama Residence. Living there are the Takanashi sisters—Hazuki, the elder, and Misa, a university student. Hazuki was once a
successful screenwriter whose debut drama became a hit, but harsh criticism led her into a slump, leaving her unable to write.
One evening, at a small restaurant in Gion, Hazuki harshly critiques the performance of a young actor named Eisuke Suzuki—only to encounter him in person. On impulse, she declares, “I’ll be your Professor Higgins,” and offers to mentor him. Thus begins a unique teacher-student relationship, where Eisuke gradually grows as an actor, and Hazuki rediscovers her passion for screenwriting through their interaction.
Amid the harsh realities of the entertainment industry and the complexities of human relationships, the story warmly portrays how the characters support and grow with one another. The ending delivers a touching narrative of bonds and personal renewal that
gently warms the reader’s heart.
