Chika Fujisaki is a postgraduate student in Tokyo, specializing in ethnology. Her talented and eccentric advisor, Jinzaburo Furuya, conducts fieldwork all over Japan, despite his precarious health. As the two travel from north to south, Furuya questions his student about how the past influences the way modern Japanese people conceive faith.
An enchanting story about the spiritual power residing in trees and forests, the sky, the earth, and the human heart.
