Due to her affectionate nature, Nikuko (Miss Meatball), a mother who has always attracted nothing but worthless men throughout her life, repeatedly deceived. In contrast to her incredibly lively and childlike pure-hearted mother, there's Kikuko, her fifth-grade daughter, with a mature and responsible personality.

Whenever Nikuko's love affair ends, the two wander around various places until they end up in a northern fishing port town. What fills the stomachs of the bewildered mother-daughter duo at the fishing port is the yakiniku (grilled meat) at a certain yakiniku restaurant called "Uwogashi."

Sassan, the owner of the restaurant, who lost his wife and was about to close the shop, sees Nikuko in front of him as the "Goddess of Meat" and hires her on the condition that she never gets sick. Thus, Nikuko and Kikuko's new life begins, using Sassan's fishing port boat as their dwelling.

Kikuko transfers to the local elementary school. Despite not being from Osaka, she speaks in Osaka dialect, quickly voices her thoughts, and is often called "cute" by her friends due to her good athletic ability. However, Kikuko has recently started feeling a bit embarrassed about her mother Nikuko, who is rumored to be a matryoshka doll throughout the town.

Meanwhile, at school, Kikuko gets entangled in the tricky conflicts typical of girls' groups around this age. With the encounter of the peculiar boy Ninomiya, Kikuko gradually grows and starts to love this fishing port town more and more.

When Nikuko's next love affair ends, they will have to leave this town again. The big secret of Kikuko and Nikuko's anxieties is about to be revealed...
